Cloud9 Paradigm has two healthy swarm hives. We call them swarm hives because the honeybees were on the wing when we found them. We give them a peaceful home with an open door and they choose to stay. The relationship is symbiotic. Honey bees need protection and we need honey.
Why is honey a basic need? Because food is a basic need. Because medicine is a basic need. In the laboratory, honey has been shown to hamper the growth of food-borne pathogens such as E. coli and salmonella, and to fight certain bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Today, many people swarm to honey for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Holistic practitioners consider it one of nature’s best all-around remedies.
But we can’t protect our hives from our neighbors if they choose to spray Roundup, a Monsanto product, on their dandelions.
Recent studies on epidemic death rates among honeybees are beginning to point fingers at genetically modified seeds produced by Monsanto. In 2012, an epidemic swept through commercial bee colonies killing up to 50% of the nations’ colonies used to pollinate crops for farmers.
European scientists have linked bee epidemics to neonicotinoids, which are incorporated into plants grown from genetically altered seeds produced by Monsanto.
Cloud9 Paradigm supports the Global March Against Monsanto because our freedom to enjoy honey is in serious jeopardy. Monsanto products jeopardize our food and medicine! We demand that Monsanto have compassion toward honeybees because human life, our life, depends on them.
